… But before we jump into the recipes, let me talk a bit about Eggnog…

Best Recipes with Eggnog… More about Eggnog!

What is Eggnog?

Eggnog is a rich & creamy milky beverage. Lightly seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves… and of course, in my version, I add my magic ingredient! You can add dark rum or whisky to pimp it up a little or serve it just as is.

We traditionally serve it around Christmas Holidays…even if it’s good all year long! Add ice or some vanilla ice cream to it and you get the perfect dessert for hot summer days! 😉

And as I said earlier, Eggnog is a fabulous ingredient for many dessert recipes.

Ready to discover my favorite ones? So let’s jump to the recipes!!

Best Recipes with Eggnog … “French Canadian Girl” Eggnog

Rich & creamy, you’ll see that my “French Canadian Girl” Eggnog tastes so much better than a store-bought! And so easy to make!

Garnish it with a little whipped cream and a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon to add some color…pimp it up with a bit of dark rum…add a cinnamon stick, and voilà! The So Perfectly Simple Eggnog!  And you don’t even need to add rum; it’s also perfect, just as is! 😉

The “French Canadian Girl” Eggnog recipe!

This homemade recipe is so good and so, so easy to make! You are just a few steps away from enjoying that lovely creamy treat. The best Eggnog on Earth!… …Because I add my magic ingredient… Maple Syrup, of course!!

Ok, stop talking about it; it’s time to make it!! 😊

… Stay tuned; you don’t want to miss the fabulous recipes I’m sharing right after!!

**”French Canadian Girl” Eggnog…Simply the best Eggnog recipe!

The best recipes with eggnog

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp of Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 pinches of cloves (or more!)
  • 6 egg yolks at room temperature ( reserve the whites for later )*
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • some whipped cream & cinnamon for garnishing
  • 2 to 3 ounces of dark rum or brandy ( optional )

*I like to use egg whites to create a fantastic Eggnog Mousse; I will talk about it later…

Instructions:

  • In a bowl, beat egg yolks. Add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating well between each addition. Set aside.
  • In a saucepan, combine milk, cream, Maple Syrup, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves over medium-low heat. Whisk constantly until almost boiling.*
  • Add the hot milk to the egg mixture, 1/2 cup at a time, whisking thoroughly between each addition.  Using a soup ladle to pour the hot milk will make it easier. 😉
  • Once almost all the hot milk was added to the egg mixture, put the milk and egg mixture back in the saucepan.
  • Cook until the mixture is almost boiling; whisking constantly. Scrape the bottom of the saucepan with a spoon once or twice. The mixture won’t be that thick but will thicken more as it cools.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in the vanilla and dark rum.
  • You can serve it warm or transfer it into an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 6 hours before serving or using it in a recipe.

*Constant whisking will prevent the mixture from sticking to the bottom of the saucepan but will also ensure that the eggs and sugar are well incorporated; you don’t want any lumps floating in your eggnog!

**This Eggnog will keep up to 5 days in the fridge.

Now, time to talk about that French Canadian Eggnog Mousse! 🙂

One of the easiest recipes on Earth! And a great way to use your egg whites.

Using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites in a bowl until soft peaks form. Add 1/2 cup of sugar, a little at a time, while continuing beating. Beat until firm peaks form.

Once the Eggnog is cooled, gently fold in the egg whites. Pour into dessert cups. Garnish with some whipped cream and a touch of cinnamon. Drizzle with a bit of Maple Syrup, and Voilà! A lovely creamy dessert!
