Blog Post Schedule to Organize Your Blogging Life

Having a blog post schedule is a must!

No matter if you post every day, once a week, or twice a month, having a schedule will definitely help you keep your stress level low. 🙂

I try to stick to my blog schedule, even though I sometimes change it a little when something really extraordinary happens! ha! ha! I wrote my last post when I discovered I was ranking on Google’s first page. Wow! I was so, so excited! My small blog is on the first page!!? Me?! And not only one of my posts was ranking on Google’s first page, but five of them! Unbelievable! ha! ha! I felt like a kid at Christmas, and I had to share that with my readers!

😉Just in case you missed it, here’s how I made Google’s first page in my 50s! Be advised, I brag a little there! ha! ha! But I bet you’d have done the same! Of course, that post wasn’t on my schedule, but I’m sure you understand why I added it!

So, to be a successful blogger, you must have an editorial calendar.

Not only does knowing in advance what you’ll write about will keep you focused on your blog, but it will also help you in many other ways.

It allows you more time for:

  • Making research
  • Finding the right keywords (we all know how important this is for SEO).
  • Finding the perfect images for your posts.
  • Creating your Pinterest pins.
  • Writing your Facebook or Instagram posts.

Your editorial calendar (or post schedule) will also help you create continuity between your posts.

It also makes it easier to build your “Behind the Scene” strategy:

  1. What affiliate product do you want to focus on.
  2. Which of your own products do you want to promote.

Your posts can become some kind of a build-up, targeting an action you want your readers to make.

Weekly Blog Planner

I just couldn’t live without my weekly blog planner!

If I had only one answer to the question: How to keep your blog organized? A weekly blog planner would be the one!

Every week, I take 30 minutes or so to plan my week.

I love knowing what I’ll have to do. It reassures me to see that all my blogging tasks for the week fit into my schedule, but more than that, with my weekly blog planner, I’m sure not to forget anything! 😉

Again, use any type of planner that works for you. I like working with a good old paper version that I keep close to me at all times.

→ This is the Weekly Blog Planner I use; feel free to use it too! Download your copy and organize your weeks!

I also use Word for everything I need to Copy & Paste. Ha! Ha! I’m an old fashion girl!

…And, oh! I almost forgot! I use Post-it too! But not too many; we can quickly get overwhelmed with all these sticky notes! I try to use them only for important things, and I throw them away as soon as the action is done.

*Disclosure: I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase through one of my affiliate links, of course, at no additional cost to you! I share and promote only products I use, trust, and love! 🖤 Products I know you will love too! 😉Please read our disclosure for more information.

The most successful bloggers are the most organized bloggers!

No matter your age or blogging niche, if you want to succeed, you have to be organized!

Calendar To Promote Your Blog

Why write all these fabulous posts if no one ever reads them!?

So, of course, you have to promote your posts. Promote, promote, promote everywhere you can! 🙂

That’s why a “Promote your Posts” calendar is essential.

To do so, you can use an Exel spreadsheet or use Tailwind.

Tailwind is the best scheduler I know! And so easy to use.

This awesome tool will let you schedule your Pinterest pins and all your Facebook and Instagram posts.

They also have AI to help you out with your pin descriptions! What more can you ask?

If you don’t use Tailwind yet, I suggest you try it. Use my special link to get a free Tailwind month trial; I’m sure that, just like me, you will fall in love with it!

And oh! I forgot to mention that Tailwind is the only scheduler authorized by Pinterest 😉

How To Organize Your Blog

Obviously, having a well-structured website is essential.

How do you plan to lay out the blog? What is the best way to organize your blog? How are blogs organized?

Good questions!

Put yourself into your readers’ shoes and make your blog as user-friendly as possible… your readers will stay longer (you’ll think me for that later! 😊)

Having an About Me page, a Contact page, and a page for each of the topics or categories you blog about will help your readers find the info they are looking for.

I also like to have a page for my books and one for my freebies.

A clear menu and pertinent info in your sidebar will also be very helpful for people who visit your website.

And yes, you can also make a little money from ads. But please, don’t add too many! Having too many pop-ups will annoy your visitors, and they might leave your site ( that’s what I usually do when there’s too much! I’m not a big fan of pop-ups! )

What about your posts? How to organize your blog post content?

Of course, having well-structured posts is a must too!

Not only it makes it easier for your readers, but it also helps Google’s crawlers find your posts faster.

It helped my posts rank on Google’s first page, so it will definitely help you too!

In short, you want well-structured posts and a nice & neat website. Not too cluttered and easy to navigate. 🙂Easy peasy, right?

Lists To Be A Successful Blogger

Still there? Good! Because it’s finally time to talk about lists! Yay!

Here I’ll share the ones I use all the time. The ones that make my blogging life so much easier!

OK, some of my lists might not be the most, most essential ones, but still, they are very useful! Remember? I’m a list lover. Blogging lists, blog planners, and checklists are my best friends!

How many lists does it take to be a successful blogger? ha! ha! I don’t know. But the more lists I have, the more in control I feel…which is great for keeping my stress level low 😊

So, how to keep your blog organized? Easy! Make lists and more lists! ha! ha!

Let’s dive into those blogging lists!

Keywords List

Take a minute to think about how many times you will talk about each of your blog posts in the future. ( in case you don’t know, the answer is A LOT of times!)

So, how helpful it is to keep a list of the keywords you used for each of your posts.

You will refer to that list every time you promote a post.

Things to learn List

As I always say, blogging is a never-ending story! There are always new things to learn, but so little time to learn everything!

I’m not retired yet and still work full-time. So, let me tell you, every minute of every day counts! And unfortunately, I do have not enough time to read and learn everything I would love to 🙁and I have to prioritize.

That’s why I have a list of all the things I want (or need!) to learn… and believe me, it’s quite a long list! And I keep adding to it almost every day! Phew!!

Things to Improve List

If you wait until everything is perfect to launch your blog, chances are, my friend, that you will never launch it! ha! ha!

I quickly realized that better start your blog now and improve it as you go. You can always come back later to fix something or tweak things a little.

So, again, I prioritize.

I have a long, long list of things to improve, and of course, I add to it all the time! ha! ha! But how satisfying it is to cross off things from that list!

Your Blogging Friends’ List

The blogging world is such a huge world but a small community.

Having some blogging friends will make you feel less lonely.

It’s always nice to reach out to them and find out they feel just the same as us. Only a blogger can know and understand what other bloggers do!

So, better have a long, long blogging friends list! ( feel free to add me to that list!! we are now blogging friends, right? 😉)

And most important, your blogging friends will be there to help you, and I’m sure you’ll be happy to help them too!

Keep Track Of Your Blogging Work

How important that list is! We write so many posts and create so many other products over time. We sometimes forget about a few of them. Better keep track of all your work to ensure you don’t forget to promote them.

All Your Posts List

How I love to see that list growing! It is so satisfying. 🎉Every new post is a little win, and I always take time to celebrate it. I think it’s important to be proud of what we’re doing, aren’t you? Please, tell me how you celebrate your little wins and victory. I would love to read you in the comments below 😉it might give me ideas… Who knows, maybe there’s something better than champagne to celebrate! ha! ha!

Ok, back to my ” All My Posts List”!

So, I use that list to make sure I don’t forget any (you know how things go fast!), but also to make sure I link my new posts to my older ones, and vice & versa.

Remember that you want to help your readers the best you can and keep them on your website as long as possible (which is also good for SEO!).

So, adding links to older posts is extra information for your readers…as long as you add links to related topics.

grab your freebies!

Your Freebie List

Even though that list is not that long, for now, I really plan to make more freebies.

I just love creating any kind of project in Canva!

Gush! My design skills were so poor when I started my blog! ha! ha! But thank God, I’m getting better every day! 🙂

If you haven’t tried Canva yet, I suggest you do. You will be able to create almost anything in no time. They also have lovely templates you can customize according to your taste and branding.

I use the Pro version, but the free version is great too. I talk more about what Canva can do for you here, and I also share other awesome blogging tools for new bloggers. Make sure to read it! These amazing tools are a must for any new blogger!

Blog Post Ideas, Freebies, And More!

We never know when inspiration will hit you! ha! ha! better be prepared!

I always keep a notebook and pen with me. I like to write down any ideas that cross my mind.

Believe me or not, but I think it’s when I shower that I have the best ideas! Some say it’s because of water… however, I now bring my notebook with me in the washroom so I’m sure not to forget anything! ha! ha!

Related Ideas

I have so many ideas! But, for now, time is missing. But believe me; I’ll be ready for when I have more time! 😉

Freebies:

There are so many freebies I would love to create! So, I keep a list until I have time. It also gives me more time to plan and improve them.

E-Books:

I already wrote a few ones. Actually, I kind of start my blog to promote my e-books. I added the link just in case you’re curious and want to see them, but please be indulgent! My English was even worse at the time I wrote them! ha! ha! but still, I’m very proud of them, and I had a lot of fun writing these books… especially my big make-ahead dessert book. Imagine all these lovely desserts to bake and eat! In case you don’t know yet, I love desserts as much as I love lists! 😆

Of course, I would love to write a few more. So I keep on adding to my list, ha! ha! And that list is getting longer every week! Gush, I just can’t wait to be retired!!

E-Courses:

I have no e-course for now, just a few ideas here and there. We never know… maybe one day…

But if your niche allows you to create e-courses, well, my friend, I suggest you do! It could be a fabulous way to make money with your blog. 😉 Just make sure you keep a list of all your new ideas and, of course, a list of your courses!

Printables:

Again, how many ideas I have! Wow! That list is so long!

I have already produced a few ones and even have an Etsy Boutique 😊

Making printables is so fun. And it’s also one of the easiest ways to make money online. I bought a great course to teach me how to make printables and to make money out of them.

There are many courses about printables. From how to create them to how to sell them. I bought Printables by Numbers from Suzy and John Withford, and I just loved it! I still refer to it often.

list of ideas to keep your blog organized

Sub-Post Ideas List

I don’t know for you, but every time I write a post, it always gives me ideas for other ones!

So, I started a list to keep track of all these great ideas. 🙂I also add these ideas to my Simple Blog Plan. I use this blog planner for each of my blog posts. Feel free to use it too! I’m sure it will help you as much as it helps me!

Having that sub-post ideas list helps me keep my blog post calendar full for months!

Post Ideas List

Oh, Gush! I have so, so many ideas! This is by far my longest list!

I write absolutely every post idea on it, even the silly ones! We never know; I might use them for a book one day… or any other project.

Sometimes, some of these ideas won’t give me enough for only one blog post, but many times, I combine a few of them to write a new post.

I just love that list!! 😊

Questions to Answer List

Another of my favorite lists!

Every time I make a search on Google, I always look at the “People also ask” section. This is a mine of gold for new blog post content ideas.

If people are looking for an answer, chances are they will be happy to find and read your post!

Looking for more ideas? Here are the best ways to find blog post ideas readers will love and read!

How To Be An Efficient Blogger

OK! Now time to blog efficiently, my friends!

All these lists will make you save time…a lot of time!

Because, as new bloggers, we are all running out of time, aren’t we? Especially us, the older bloggers with fewer tech skills. We already spend so much time searching and learning…

Internal Link List

Keeping track of all the internal links you add to your posts is a must! I have done that since the beginning.

Not only that list helps me keep track of all the links, but it also helps me not to forget any posts to link to or to add links to my newest posts.

Again, the more internal links you add to your posts ( when related, of course!), the better!… and the longer readers will stay on your website.

Password List

Gush! There are so many! We now have passwords for everything! Impossible to remind them all!

All of my passwords are on that list… well, of course, none of my banking ones, but all the others! Such as plugin passwords, e-course, memberships of all kinds, you know, those kinds of things. Forgetting passwords drove me nuts, so I quickly started that list!

how to keep your blog organized? Make a To-Do list!

To-Do List

Now that you know me a bit better, can you imagine me living without a To-Do list? ha! ha! Of course not!!

To that list, I like to add all I have to do. No matter if it’s a short-term or long-term task, I add it to my list.

Then, I use this list to build my weekly and monthly planners. I just love it!! 🖤

Good Tips & Advice List

Every time I read something interesting, something I know will be useful, I copy and paste it into that list. And believe me; I refer to that list all the time! We just can’t remember everything, don’t we?

There are a few sections on that list, such as:

  • Tips to improve my website
  • Tips to grow my email list
  • Tips to write better posts
  • Tips to promote my posts
  • Tips about SEO

And the last section of that list is for the best blogging advice from my favorite gurus! 😉

Favorite Ressource List

Have you ever bought an e-book or a great course and then forgot about it? Yes, I know! It happens to me too! (and more than once!)

But since I work with that list, I don’t forget any of all these fabulous resources I bought.

I like to refer to them frequently to make sure I benefit from any penny I spend on them.

Aren’t you curious to know what resources are on my list? ha! ha! I bet you are!

These are my favorites. And I love them so much that I’m proud to promote them. I know they will all help you as much as they helped me! If you are interested in one of these, simply use the links I added. For some of these, you might receive a little discount… 😊

So, here they are!!

  • Treasure Map To Blogging: By Ling from Finsavvy Panda. This is the first book I bought, and I just love it! I used it to start my blog and let me tell you, I really don’t know what I would have done without this book.
  • Golden Compass To Pinterest: Another book by Ling. God, I had so many problems trying to figure out how to use Pinterest and how that big Pinterest beast was working! That e-book helped me finally understand Pinterest!
  • Get Your Keywords Together: We all know how keywords are important. In this book, Trinity helps us find keywords using free tools only.
  • Easy On-Page SEO: By Debbie Gartner. I wish I discovered this book before! I can say without a doubt that this e-book is the only reason why I now rank on Google’s first page!
  • Easy Backlinks for SEO: Also from Debbie. This e-book is the perfect complement to Easy On-Page SEO. That’s why she also offers a bundle! 😉
  • Easy On-Page SEO + Easy Backlinks, The Bundle! That is what I bought and believe me, it is worth each cent I spent on it!!  If you are serious about your blog, then you absolutely need this bundle!
  • The Blog Traffic Booster: By Margaret Bourne, a great blog coach. She teaches us how to promote our blog and get more traffic. And we all want more traffic to our blog, aren’t we?
  • Printables By Numbers: By Suzy and John Withford. This is the perfect e-course to learn how to make printables and make money from them.

…And I have a few other ones too, but I don’t want that post to last forever!😉

Tools, Extension, Plugin List

Again, we have so many of these that we sometimes forget about them!… Or forget what they are for! ha! ha!

There’re a few ones I installed when I first started out, and can’t remember why I bought them! ha! ha! So funny.

So, now, I have a list of all my tools… and I always know what I can use them for!

Affiliated Partner List

Finally, I like keeping track of my affiliated partners.

Very helpful to not forget any and ensure I promote them when appropriate.

Affiliated marketing is a great way to make money with your blog 😉and we all love having a little extra income, right?

So, make sure you have a list of all your affiliates and keep it up to date! But most importantly, don’t forget to refer to that list every time you write a new blog post!

Of course, there are link management plugins, such as Pretty Links or Lasso, but I prefer not to add too many plugins as it slows our websites down… which gives a bad user experience to our readers, and of course, a slow website is bad for SEO! To me, the good old manual method is the best!

How To Use Post Checklists To Keep Organized

how to keep your blog organized? Use a checklist!

There are so many things to look after when publishing a new post! Phew!

I have to be sure I don’t forget anything, whether in my post itself or just after I hit the publish button.

I feel much more confident with my post checklist!

Instead of stressing out wondering if I checked my links, my no follow links, if I added my freebies, if I have enough images, if I added a Pinterest pin, or indexed my post to Google’s search console, etc… See? There are tons of things to remember!

You just can’t publish a new post without a post checklist!
