The most popular ways to find blog post content ideas

These are simple ways to find great post content ideas. Most bloggers use these methods, and they work well. So, if you haven’t tried them yet, I suggest you do. It’s surprising how many good ideas we can get there!

I will share a lot of info here; make sure you save it so you can come back to it at any time 😉

Ready? So time to jump into it!! 😊

First, we have to talk about social media because they are an unending source of new topic ideas!

♦Social media analytics

Almost every social media has its analytic section.

Check the stats and find out which blog posts have the highest number of views. These are the most popular articles, and obviously, these topics interest your readers. So, if you create a blog post about one of these, it will be easier to bring traffic to your post from these platforms.

♦Facebook groups

Facebook groups are a gold mine for collecting good post topics! Again, access the metrics and find out what are the most popular posts there.

You could also list questions you see often and create a post to answer one or many of these.

I suggest you be part of a few groups related to your niche… it will give you more material for your research 😉 and you will make new blogging friends too!

♦Pinterest trends

As a new blogger, Pinterest is one of the best ways to bring traffic to your blog. But again, you have to blog about what pinners want to see. To do so, check the Trend Section to give you an idea of what’s popular.

Select Analytics → Trends

Here how it will look like:

By clicking the arrow on each side of the pictures, you’ll see what’s popular these days.

That is great to find content ideas that your visitors will love, and you also know that it will be easy to drive Pinterest traffic to your post.

♦Twitter…

Well, well… I don’t use Twitter ( I know, I should! ) because I’m always short of time to learn it, and I prefer to focus on other things for now.

But I know that many bloggers use it to find content ideas. They are mainly focusing on Hashtags. So please, if you use Twitter to find post topic ideas, share them in the comment box below! 😊 It’s time I learn how it works!!

Google Search gives endless blog post content ideas!

…as long as you know where to look! 😉 We tend to look at the first page only but take the time to scroll down a little. You will find plenty of post ideas on pages 3, 4, or 5!

When you start to type in your keywords, Google always has suggestions in the drop-down menu. These could be good topic ideas or even titles for a future post.

Make sure you scroll down to the section: “People also search for.” Tons of topic ideas there too!

Scrolling down a bit more, you will see the “Related research” and the “People also ask” sections. I just love the “People also ask” one! I got so many great ideas from it! ( it also gives me ideas for my Pinterest pin titles 😉)

Here’s what it looks like when I type in Best Muffin Recipe. Four great questions to answer and potential for four new blog posts!

And, of course, you must look at Google trends too! Oh, and while you are there, why not look at the Youtube videos Google proposes? ha! ha! Blog post topic ideas are everywhere on Google!!

Some other great options to find blog post topics

♦Answer the Public

That website is nothing but amazing! I can spend hours there! You enter your keyword or keyphrase, and tons of questions will appear. I suggest you try it, you’ll see, you will get addicted too, ha! ha! You will access Answer The Public right here!

♦Quora

If you don’t know about Quora yet, take a few minutes to discover it! It’s a Q&A website full of questions and answers.

Here you can type in any question and see how people will respond to it… be ready for any kind of answer!

You can also use the search bar to find topics per your niche. Then, go through the questions and select some that you could use to create a post.

And the “Read” option is also a great place to discover new things. 😉

I used to spend a lot of time on Quora because I like learning new things… but I have less spare time now, so I try to avoid going on Quora too often ( it’s funny how minutes can turn into hours so quickly! )

Even if it’s not my primary source of topic ideas, I like to go once in a while.🙂 It doesn’t hurt to try, right?

Expand existing blog posts

That is an easy, easy one!

Look at your most popular articles and find another way or angle to write them. What more can you add to it? Is there any new info that needs to be added?

Let’s say you have a post about the best techniques to eradicate weeds in your garden. You could write a second article about how weeds can damage or affect your garden and how to prevent them from growing back.

See? It’s similar to the first one but with different info that will also help your readers. 😊Easy Peasy!!

** Pro Tip: Instead of publishing one post a day with poor content, you better publish once a week or twice a month but offer some great content. Valuable info that will really help your readers/visitors. It’s not about quantity here; it’s more about quality… and constancy! 😉

Still there?!

I know this is a lot of information, but hold on til the end! 😉 I will share my favorite strategy to find ideas and talk about my favorite tool!

How to find the best blog post content ideas…

How to find blog topics good for SEO

No matter the way you use to find blog post content ideas, always keep in mind that you have to write about things your readers want to read!

What’s the point of writing blog posts if no one ever reads them?!

And, of course, if you’re serious about your blog and want to monetize it, you really need traffic, right?

seo and keywords

So, always make sure you choose topics people are searching for; it’s the key to success for any blog!

Using keywords and applying a good SEO strategy will also help… but because it’s not our main topic today, I won’t discuss it in detail, or this post will last forever! ha! ha!

But if you’re not familiar with keyword research or SEO  ( or want to learn more about it), I strongly recommend these e-books.

First: Get Your Keywords Together by The Pay At Home Parent.

Trinity explains her strategy, and let me tell you something! It works! 😊 Really works! She teaches us how to find keywords using only free tools. How I like free things, aren’t you? ha! ha! (and she also offers a few extra free bonuses with her book too! )

The second e-book is Easy On-Page-SEO by Debbie Gartner. Wow, she explains SEO like no one! Believe me; you will become an SEO expert after reading this book!

Last but not least

Easy Back Links for SEO, also by Debbie. This book is the perfect complement to On-Page-SEO. I read them both ( a few times! ) and still refer to them often.

😊And because after reading Easy On-Page SEO, you won’t be able to resist and have to buy Easy Backlinks, too; she offers a bundle so you can save a little! That’s what I bought, and trust me, it was worth each penny I spent on it! If you want to know everything about SEO, the only thing you need is that Easy On-Page SEO + Easy Backlinks for SEO Bundle!

These three e-books helped me a lot, so if you’re struggling with SEO and Keywords, give them a try. You will see SEO in a different light… and find out it’s way less complicated than we initially thought!

Ok, now, stop talking about keywords and SEO!! Let’s get back to our topic.😉 How to find the best blog post content ideas so you can publish a ton of great posts!

A few more ideas…

  • What’s new in your niche/ industry?

Any info, small or big, can help your readers, and they will be happy you share it!

  • Look at other bloggers in your niche to find inspiration.

Of course, I’m not telling you to copy them ( please, don’t ever do this! ), but you might have additional info or a better idea to talk about one specific topic.

Presenting things in a new light will certainly help your readers. 🙂

  • Read comments and questions

Read questions and comments readers leave on other blog posts in your niche. You would be surprised by all we can find there! And, of course, using the comments your readers leave in your comment box is even better! Use these and let your imagination guide you through creating new content!

  • Google Keyword planner

Google Keyword Planner is a free tool for finding keywords and their ranking. But it’s also a great place to find topic ideas.

Write a topic of interest to you. You’ll see many keywords around that particular topic. Use them to create fabulous post content!

How to find the best blog post content ideas…

ask your readers to find blog topics

Ask your readers

Your readers are the ones you should (must!!) focus on at all times!

What do they want to read?

The best way to find out is by asking them… simple, right? ha! ha!

But how to ask them? Survey-style question is the best! But please, stay away from the 2-page survey! You don’t want your visitors to leave your website, don’t you? You can easily ask two or three questions at a time. The questions have to be clear and easy to answer.

Ask them in your blog posts, through your email list… or both! 😉

This is the best way to ensure your post content and topics will please them.

How to find the best blog post content ideas…

My Favorite Method!

The one I Love, Love, Love!

I have used this method since I started blogging, and it has always worked well. I always have tons of content ideas! 😊And my blogging schedule is full months in advance because of it. Feel free to grab your copy of my Simple Blog Plan, the tool I use absolutely every day!!

The Simple Blog Plan

i need this simple blog plan

Now, time to share that simple method. You won’t believe how easy it is, but oh! So efficient! Please, give it a try; I’m sure you will love it too ❤️

So, my favorite way to always have great content for my readers is my Blog Post Ideas File!

Yes, I write down on it absolutely every time an idea pops into my head. Actually, my list is so long that I don’t think I’ll live long enough to go through it! ha! ha! I just can’t stop adding to this list.

Ok, having a Blog Post Ideas File is a great idea… But how do I find ideas to add to that file?

Easy, Easy!

My biggest sources of new ideas are my posts themselves.

Every time I write an article, there are always a few topics related to that post that I can’t include right now ( our posts have to end somehow, right? ) or some fabulous idea that pops into my head 😉 of course, I add those to my file. But I also work with my Simple Blog Plan sheet.

So, every time I do keywords researches related to a new blog post, I see similar ideas but from a different angle. Then I always add these ideas to my Blog Plan. I try to collect at least 2 to 3 per post ( I call them my sub-post ideas 😉). Sometimes, I use them all in one post, but it usually gives me enough content to create separate posts.

I really love this method, and it’s the one I use the most.

It also saves me a lot of time because I do keyword research at the same time 😉.

Here’s how I work:

Let’s say I write a post about pea soup ( sorry! It’s the first thing that came to my mind! ha! ha! )

My following post ideas could be:

  1. Best vegan soups
  2. How to cook with split peas and other beans
  3. The best preservation method for peas, lentils, and other dry beans
  4. How to integrate peas, lentils, and beans into your daily diet and the benefits of them
  5. How to add beans to your meals without your kids noticing

See how easy it is? ha! ha! It’s amazing how a subject as banal as split peas can generate so many ideas, isn’t it?

Simply choose the ones you’re sure your readers want to read. Use the other ideas as part of another blog post.

If you start to use this simple method, I swear your Blog Post Ideas File will quickly get full!

And after collecting all those ideas, make sure you fill in your blog calendar so you have content for the next few months! 😉
